WorldStage– The Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Jibril Ismail Falgore, his Deputy, Muhammad Butu- Butu, the Majority Leader, Lawan Hussain, and 19 other lawmakers have resigned their membership of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
This is coming after the resent dumping of the party by Gov. Abba Yusuf.
The lawmakers also declared their full support for the governor.
A statement issued by the Press Secretary of the Kano State House of Assembly, Kamaludden Shawai listed those who resigned their membership of the NNPP to include the Speaker of the House, the Deputy Speaker, the Majority Leader, the Deputy Majority Leader, Garba Fammar, and the Chief Whip, Muddasir Zawachiki.
Others were lawmakers representing constituencies such as Ajingi, Albasu, Bagwai/Shanono, Bebeji, Bunkure, Dawakin Kudu, Fagge, Gabasawa, Garko, Gwale, Karaye, Kura/Garun Malam, Madobi, Minjibir, Rano, Tarauni and Wudil.
Shawai said that a total of 22 members of the House were involved in the defection.
He added that the Kano State House of Assembly had verified and authenticated the list of the lawmakers as released.
The assembly explained that the announcement was made to properly inform the public and clarify the political position of the affected lawmakers following the governor’s resignation from the NNPP.
