WorldStage Newsonline– The Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) Plc has recruited over 70 staff to replace exiting personnel and maintain a balanced workforce across its regions.
Acting Managing Director, Mr Jonathan Lawani, told newsmen on Thursday in Benin that the company would sign its long-awaited Condition of Service document on July 31.
According to him, said the document defines clear and equitable employment terms, growth opportunities, and staff benefits, all aimed at enhancing staff welfare and promoting a performance-driven work culture.
He noted that the agreement, which followed extensive stakeholder consultations, had been fully endorsed by the company’s board of directors and marked a significant employee-focused policy milestone.
“This landmark document will be officially signed on July 31, and marks a historic milestone in our employee engagement and policy transformation efforts.
“It is a bold testament to the promises made and kept by this management in ensuring staff-centered, performance-based, and reward-driven organisational reforms,” he added.
Lawani emphasised that under the renewed leadership in the past three months, BEDC had made measurable progress in transforming staff experience and operational efficiency company-wide.
He dismissed any misinformation surrounding recent company reforms, emphasising that the facts speak for themselves.
“BEDC has clearly moved away from outdated practices, demonstrating a strong commitment to employee motivation, improved service delivery, and the development of a skilled, efficient, and productive workforce.
“Top-performing Linesmen and DSSOs were selected for an all-expense-paid training in Lagos and Abuja to enhance their safety and technical skills in the field.
“These initiatives are part of broader efforts to equip frontline staff with necessary tools, expertise, and confidence to deliver quality services under safe conditions daily.
“Operational support across BEDC’s franchise has also improved significantly with renewed funding, vehicle deployment, tool upgrades, and logistics aid to strengthen regional field operations.
“Material supply processes have also been overhauled with the introduction of proactive warehousing, ensuring quicker procurement, reduced delays, and improved service turnaround for customer needs.”
He reaffirmed BEDC’s commitment to staff welfare, professional development, and excellence in operational service to its customers and stakeholders across its service areas.
“These commitments are no longer just targets. They are being implemented and experienced by our workforce across every level of BEDC’s operations and service network,” Lawani noted.
He urged the public to ignore misinformation and distractions, affirming that progress made would not be derailed by any attempt to sabotage the reforms.
