WorldStage– United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has announced that its Board of Directors approved the Group’s Audited Accounts and Financial Statements for the half-year ended June 30, 2026, alongside the appointment of Mr. Ibrahim Ajimasu Puri as a Non-Executive Director.
CBN Approval and Closed Period
Both the half-year financial statements and Mr. Puri’s board appointment remain subject to final approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
UBA stated that Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) and the investing public will be notified as soon as the CBN grants approval. Consequently, the bank’s trading closed period will remain active until 24 hours after the official public release of the audited statements.
New Director Profile
Mr. Ibrahim Ajimasu Puri brings over 35 years of executive experience spanning financial services, fintech, telecommunications, and FMCG.
Past Leadership: Previously served as an Executive Director on UBA’s Board before retiring in 2022.
Current Roles: Serves as a Non-Executive Director on the boards of 9mobile and Nigerian Breweries Plc.
Education & Expertise: Holds a Master’s Degree in Banking and Finance from Bayero University, Kano, with executive training from Oxford, Harvard, and Euromoney London. His core expertise includes board governance, structured finance, turnaround management, and negotiation.
Welcoming the appointment, UBA Group Chairman Tony Elumelu, CFR, expressed confidence that Mr. Puri’s background, sound judgment, and industry depth will significantly strengthen the board and support the bank’s expansion across its operating network. UBA currently serves over 50 million customers across 20 African nations, the UK, the US, France, and the UAE.
