WorldStage–The Ondo State Government, South-west Nigeria has commenced the 2026 promotion exercise for more than 3000 workers across the state public service.
The state Head of Service (HOS), Mr Bayo Philip, who flagged-off the exercise on Monday in Akure, explained that the workers had completed their three years waiting period, and had been penciled down for the exercise.
Philip said the prospective workers had been found deserving of the promotion and were invited to be interviewed.
He charged them to be of good conduct and ethical for a smooth conduct, which would ensure that the exercise was completed within the shortest possible time.
“We appreciate the state Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for always approving the yearly exercise without skipping any year since his assumption of office.
“There are states in the federation that either approve promotion in arrears of many years or without immediate financial benefits. We have it good under the present administration,” he said.
The HOS, therefore, charged the officers to reciprocate the good gesture by rededicating themselves to efficient service delivery, “because their eventual promotion is a call to higher responsibility”.
Also, the Permanent Secretary, Office of Establishment and Training, Mrs Olufunke Dare-Atunse, commended the good leadership of Philip, which she said, led to the early commencement of the exercise.
Dare-Atunse added that the HOS had always been liberal in handling issues touching the welfare of the workforce. She thanked the governor for prioritising the welfare of the public servants in the state.
