WorldStage Newsonline– In a bid to enhance the morale and motivation of troops, the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Inspection Team, led by Rear Admiral OK Oluwagbire, recently visited the Headquarters of the Joint Task Force (JTF) Operation DELTA SAFE (OPDS) in the Niger Delta region.
According to a statement, the visit aimed to foster interaction with naval personnel, address operational challenges, and deliver the CNS’s end-of-year goodwill message.
Upon arrival, the team was warmly received by Rear Admiral John Okeke, Commander of JTF OPDS. They were briefed on the operational activities of OPDS, which plays a vital role in ensuring stability and enhancing crude oil production in the region.
Operation DELTA SAFE, spearheaded by the Nigerian Navy, focuses on combating crude oil theft and ensuring security within the Niger Delta. These efforts have contributed to a remarkable increase in crude oil production, now averaging 1.88 million barrels per day.
As part of the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to troop welfare, particularly during the festive season, the CNS urged personnel to remain loyal, patriotic, and apolitical. He encouraged them to stay vigilant, uphold integrity, and avoid any form of illegality or social vices.
The visit aligns with similar morale-boosting engagements by top military officials, including the recent visit by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, to OPDS troops.
The Nigerian Navy’s dedication to securing the Niger Delta is further evident through its operations, such as Operation Delta Sanity, which has achieved significant success in curbing crude oil theft and illegal refining activities.
