WorldStage– Telecommunications and mobile money services provider Airtel Africa plc has announced the repurchase of 799,843 of its ordinary shares of USD 0.50 each between July 30 and July 31, 2026, as part of its ongoing share buyback initiative.
According to a notice at the Nigerian Exchnage, the transactions were executed through Barclays Capital Securities Limited under shareholder authority granted for the share buyback programme, which originally commenced on May 22, 2026.
According to corporate disclosures released to the market, the shares were acquired across two trading days:
July 30, 2026: Airtel Africa purchased 195,971 ordinary shares at a volume weighted average price (VWAP) of 340.40 GBp. Prices ranged from a low of 338.80 GBp to a high of 344.40 GBp.
July 31, 2026: The company acquired 603,872 ordinary shares at a VWAP of 331.50 GBp. Prices ranged from a low of 328.80 GBp to a high of 341.60 GBp.
The company confirmed that all ordinary shares purchased during this period will be cancelled.
Since launching the buyback programme with Barclays on May 22, 2026, Airtel Africa has repurchased a cumulative 15,984,069 ordinary shares at an overall volume weighted average price of 338.58 GBp per share.
As of July 31, 2026, the company’s total issued share capital stood at 3,639,696,802 ordinary shares (including 6,136,678 held in treasury). The total voting rights in the company sit at 3,632,760,281, taking into account treasury shares and unsettled share purchases pending cancellation.
