WorldStage— The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has launched a comprehensive, nationwide clearance operation explicitly designed to flush out bandits, kidnappers, and other violent criminal groups from their hideouts.
The sweeping tactical offensive follows a intensive training and retraining initiative for Police Mobile Force (PMF) personnel.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, confirmed the commencement of the multi-state blitz in an official statement released from the force headquarters in Abuja.
According to the police command, the overarching objective of the mission is to deploy heavily motivated tactical teams directly into identified security flashpoints, vulnerable rural communities, and vast forest corridors.
By embedding operatives in these terrains, the police aim to completely disrupt criminal infrastructure, deny attackers freedom of movement, and restore durable public safety.
The nationwide campaign kicked off with a high-stakes pilot operation at Alagye Village within the Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Acting swiftly on precise intelligence reports revealing an active kidnappers’ camp hidden deep inside the Alagye forest, more than six specialized, well-equipped units aggressively infiltrated the zone.
The initial encounters yielded immediate operational breakthroughs, with police operatives rescuing two kidnap victims, neutralizing three bandits, and arresting nine suspected kidnappers.
A substantial cache of large weaponry and operational exhibits was also successfully recovered during the raid.
Speaking on the localized phase of the crackdown, the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Mohammed, flagged off his command’s deployment under directives from top police leadership, clarifying that the intense forest sweeps are projected to continue steadily until the end of December 2026.
Tactical squads, intelligence operatives, and anti-kidnapping units are currently tracking criminal elements who use interconnected forests across neighboring Local Government Areas like Akwanga and Toto as tactical operational bases.
While commanding officers have been strictly ordered to adhere to professional rules of engagement, the Nigeria Police Force continues to appeal to citizens across the federation to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and highly cooperative.
Security officials emphasized that the success of the nationwide clearance depends heavily on local communities providing credible, real-time intelligence to help security forces locate and dismantle criminal strongholds definitively.
