WorldStage Newsonline– The Board of Directors of Omatek Ventures Plc, a foremost Nigeria’s computers assembly firm has resolved to present a proposal to the Bank of Industry (BOI) for the amicable resolution of the crisis that led to the shutdown of its operations.
The company was reportedly shut down in 2017 by BoI over failure to service a N5.81 billion loan it obtained for the procurement of assembly components for the production of laptops.
The company in a notice at the Nigerian Exchange signed by Femi David Ikotun, Company Secretary said that at the Meeting of the Board of Directors on the 19th day of October, 2021, via ZOOM; it was authorised that the Group Managing Director (GMD) and the Company Secretary should present a Proposal to the Bank of Industry for the amicable resolution of the crisis once and for all.
The notice did not indicate what the proposal will seek from BoI as appeals for out of court resolution in the past had failed.
The Shareholders of the company had in 2020 at its combined five-year annual general meeting (AGM) for 2015 to 2019 held in Lagos appealed to BoI to re-open the company.
In December 2012, the firm secured a term loan and working capital facility totalling N5.81 billion from BoI for the purpose of financing the procurement of assembly components for the production of laptops. But things awry for the company and it could not service the loan, leading to a court order to take over premises of the tech company.
