WorldStage Newsonline– Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP) has signed an investment agreement with Chilwee Group, a prominent Chinese manufacturer of cutting-edge batteries and power storage solutions, to enhance energy security in Nigeria.
The NCSP Director-General, Joseph Tegbe, in a statement said that the agreement indicated a commitment by the firm to invest in Nigeria’s energy sector.
Tegbe described the agreement as part of the significant strides made in strengthening bilateral relations and promoting economic cooperation between Nigeria and China.
He said that the NCSP delegation, during its visit to China, recorded some agreements and investments in the energy, technology and manufacturing sectors.
All these, he said, were aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s socio-economic transformation.
“At the forefront of these developments is the agreement between NCSP and Chilwee Group, a prominent Chinese manufacturer of cutting-edge batteries and power storage solutions.
“This agreement is expected to enhance Nigeria’s energy security, promote renewable energy and reduce carbon emissions.
“Chilwee Group has committed to investing in Nigeria through a multi-faceted approach, including sales, manufacturing and potentially mining raw materials for the power storage value chain,’’ he said.
The director-general further stated that NCSP facilitated a tripartite agreement with three Chinese companies on the renovation and upgrading of equipment in selected teaching hospitals in Nigeria.
The companies, according to him are, CPL Medical group, CSSC Haishen Medical Technology Company Ltd. and China Habour Engineering Company.
Tegbe said that the agreement represented an example of a private-sector collaboration, which the partnership hoped to promote.
He said that the NCSP delegation also visited China Electronic Corporation, where he expressed optimism about cooperation between Nigeria and China in the areas of electronics equipment, public security surveillance and identity management.
Emphasising the need for the collaboration, Tegbe said that he had the mandate of President Bola Tinubu to identify top-priority projects that would drive Nigeria’s industrialisation.
He added that the NCSP delegation visited Huawei, where they discussed opportunities for collaboration in the ICT sector, including training programmes and deployment of smart city models.
He said that with the imminent deployment of the smart city model presented by Huawei to Tinubu in Beijing, Nigeria was set to reap the benefits of the investments of Huawei in Nigeria and its partnership with the Tinubu-led administration.
“These benefits include smart, qualitative education, better healthcare delivery, enhanced communications technology, improved security infrastructure and digitalisation of key government facilities.
“NCSP also met with representatives from Loong UAV, a global leader in tactical drone solutions, to explore opportunities for cooperation in the field of drone technology.
“The cooperation with Loong UAV is expected to bolster Nigeria’s domestic capabilities in drone technology, facilitating access to essential services and commodities in remote or hard-to-reach regions.
“This innovative use of drones could significantly enhance Nigeria’s logistical capabilities, creating new opportunities for economic growth and development,’’ he said.
According to him, the secured agreements and investments demonstrate NCSP’s commitment to driving Nigeria’s socio-economic transformation through targetted Chinese investments.
He reiterated NCSP’s commitment to unlocking new opportunities for economic growth and development in Nigeria by focusing on creating value-driven partnerships.
He said that the commitment would also be achieved through strengthening Nigeria’s role in Africa’s industrialisation and coordinating initiatives that aligned with the Tinubu-led administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
