WorldStage– As the March 1, 2026 deadline commencement date draws near for payments through electronic channels for airport services—including car parks, access gates, and VIP lounges— the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has released explanations to some of the concerns raised by prospective users of the services and some stakeholders.
Giving the explanations through the official website of the aviation authority, its Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection of FAAN, Mr. Henry Agbebire said on how to register for the FAAN Airport Card that registration has been made simple and convenient for prospective users by visiting the Access Gate or the Office of the Head of Commercials at Lagos or Abuja Airport to obtain prepaid card.
Giving further explanation, the aviation authority stated: “Scan the QR code provided or go to www.gocashless.faan.gov.ng,enter your name and phone number, then verify with the OTP sent to your phone.
A virtual account (accessible via your dashboard) will be created and you will receive account details via SMS.
“Fund your account by making a minimum transfer of ₦1,000 from any Nigerian bank. Complete registration by entering the unique card details printed on your card.”
It stated that if users are unable to register their card, they should confirm that they are entering the correct card details. “If the issue persists, request a replacement card at the access gate or support desk, or reach out to us on 0700-227-3226 (0700-CBS-FAAN) or via email at gocashlesssupport@faan.gov.ng,” it advised.
On concern of if multiple cards can be registered, the authority affirmed it can be done and that all of them will be linked to a single wallet balance. “Cards may also be shared with members of your household, friends, or family, while still being managed under one wallet, FAAN added.
But it declared that once registered, the card works across all FAAN-managed airports, starting with Abuja and Lagos.
On if there is a fee for registration, it said no, but that there is a one-time issuance fee of ₦500 that will be deducted from applicant’s wallet balance to cover the cost of the physical card. “There are no additional fees for using the card.”
If the Card is lost or stolen, users are advised to log into their dashboard to block the card immediately and report the incident at the FAAN helpdesk or through the official support hotline/email.
On whether international travelers can use the FAAN Airport Card, the aviation body stated it’s possible, as according to it, the card is available to both Nigerian and international travelers.
To check balance on the card, users are told will receive an SMS notification after every transaction, and urged to log into their dashboard at www.gocashless.faan.gov.ng to view their wallet balance and transaction history.
The FAAN Airport Card is a prepaid contactless card that allows travelers, motorists, and other airport users to make seamless cashless payments at FAAN revenue points.
It is part of FAAN’s “Go Cashless” initiative, powered in partnership with Paystack.
The Card can be used at any FAAN-managed airport revenue points.
Currently it is active at the Lagos and Abuja access gates, with plans to expand to other airports soon.
