WorldStage– Nigerian football administrator Samson Adamu has been appointed as the Acting Secretary General of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) today, Sunday, March 29, 2026.
He is the first Nigerian to hold this position in the organization’s 70-year history.
Adamu replaces Véron Mosengo-Omba of the Democratic Republic of Congo, who stepped down to contest for the presidency of the Congolese Football Federation (FECOFA).
Adamu’s nomination was proposed by the CAF Executive Committee and ratified by the Congress during a meeting at the Giza Palace Hotel in Cairo, Egypt.
Before this elevation, Adamu served as CAF’s Director of Tournaments and Events, where he managed 27 tournaments and over 800 matches.
He is the son of Amos Adamu, a former FIFA Executive Committee member and former Director-General of the Nigerian National Sports Commission.
