WorldStage– The Abuja Zone of the Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria has strengthened collaboration with the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation as part of efforts to advance corporate governance, ethical leadership, and institutional efficiency across Nigeria’s public sector.
The delegation, led by the Chairperson of the CIoD Abuja Zone, Mrs. Rose Eshiette, paid a courtesy visit to the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, in Abuja, where discussions focused on deepening professionalism, accountability, and governance reforms within the Federal Civil Service.
During the engagement, Mrs. Eshiette formally presented an invitation to the Head of Service to serve as the Special Guest of Honour at the forthcoming Investiture Ceremony of the 11th Chairperson of the CIoD Abuja Zone, scheduled to hold on Thursday, June 11, 2026, in Abuja.
The Head of Service warmly received the invitation and expressed her appreciation to the Institute for the honour. She assured the delegation that the event had been duly noted in her schedule and also encouraged the participation of Permanent Secretaries in support of the Institute’s vision of strengthening corporate governance and leadership culture within the public service.
Mrs. Walson-Jack also shared valuable insights into ongoing reform initiatives within the Federal Civil Service, particularly the service-wide GPT initiative aimed at driving innovation, knowledge access, and operational efficiency across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.
She further highlighted efforts toward the development of a comprehensive compendium of circulars issued over the years to improve institutional memory, policy accessibility, and administrative consistency within the Service.
The CIoD delegation commended the Head of Service for her visionary leadership and commitment to modernising the Civil Service through technology-driven reforms and strategic governance initiatives.
The courtesy visit forms part of the CIoD Abuja Zone’s broader commitment to fostering strategic partnerships with key public and private sector stakeholders while advancing the principles of sound corporate governance, ethical leadership, and sustainable institutional development in Nigeria.
