The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, on Thursday declared as unacceptable the ever rising kidnap cases in the country following the death of District Head of Gatawa in Sokoto State, Alhaji Isa Muhammad Bawa, in kidnappers’ den.
The bandits had kidnapped the late District Head of Gatawa and his son on July 29. The late Bawa was reported to have died in captivity.
Expressing sadness over the death of the district head, Abbas said the bandits’ kidnap of the traditional ruler was barbaric and their treatment of him inhuman.
“In the first place, the bandits’ kidnap of the traditional ruler was barbaric and their treatment of the late Sarkin Gobir inhuman,” Abbas stated in a statement of condolence released on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi.
He decried the continuous kidnapping for ransom in the country, stating that it is unacceptable.
The Speaker sent heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Sarkin Gobir, the Gatawa District in Sabon Birni Local Government, the people and government of Sokoto State over the irreparable loss.
He prayed to Allah to have mercy on the soul of the late Alhaji Isa Muhammad Bawa and make Jannatul Firdaus his final abode.
