WorldStage Newsonline– The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has started a skills acquisition training programme on modern shoemaking and tailoring for youths in Ife-Ife Osun State.
This is contained in a press statement issued by Mr Chima Akwaja, NASENI’s Deputy Director of Information on Monday in Abuja.
Akwaja disclosed that the three-day intensive training began on Monday, July 8, and would end on July 10, at the NASENI Skill Acquisition Centre, Osun State.
He said that Mr Khalil Halilu, Executive Vice Chairman of NASENI, who was represented by Mr Olayode Adesola, Director of Manufacturing Services, Engineering Infrastructure Directorate, declared the programme open.
The statement quoted Halilu as saying that the training would equip participants with skills in modern tailoring and shoe making techniques.
The EVC stated that NASENI has the mandate to nurture and appropriate a dynamic science and engineering infrastructure base for achieving home-initiated and home-sustained industrialisation for Nigeria.
“To achieve this mandate, critical skill development of personnel is required.
“It is in this direction that we embarked on development of NASENI Skill Acquisition Centres across Nigeria, ” Halilu stated.
He said that the training was part of the renewed hope agenda of the Federal government.
