WorldStage Newsonline– The Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has paid tribute to a former Inspector-General of Police and immediate past Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Dr Solomon Arase, describing him as a thoroughbred civil servant.
Arase died on Sunday in Abuja at the age of 69, after a brief illness.
While Arase was appointed IGP in April 2015 and retired in June 2016, he later chaired the PSC until 2024.
In a statement issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi
Special Adviser, Abbas eulogised Arase for his dedicated service to Nigeria, noting his exceptional performance as IGP and Chairman of the PSC. He said testimonies of his reforms in the police are abound in the condolence messages that are emerging after his demise.
While urging officers of the Nigeria Police and civil servants by extension to emulate Arase’s discipline and dedication to service, the Speaker noted that his life will continue to inspire many officers who are still in service.
The Speaker commiserated the Arase family, the NPF and the PSC, while extending his condolences to the people and the government of Edo State.
Speaker Abbas prayed to God to grant Arase eternal rest.
