WorldStage Newsonline– Guaranty Trust Bank Plc and Zenith Bank Plc, two leading banks in Nigeria have joined two others on Monday to confirm the delay in the filing of their audited financial statements for the half year ended June 30, 2020 within the extended regulatory filing deadline.
United Bank for Africa Plc (UBA) and Stanbic IBTC Holdings PLC earlier issued notifications on Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), claiming that their Audited Financial Statements were still undergoing necessary regulatory approvals by the Central Bankof Nigeria (CBN).
GTB in its notification http://www.nse.com.ng/Financial_NewsDocs/31337_GUARANTY_TRUST_BANK_PLC.-PRESS_STATEMENT_DELAY_IN_PUBL.pdf signed by Erhi Obebeduo, Company Secretary said, “The shareholders and the investing public are kindy informed that following the consideration of bank’s audited half-year finacial statement (AFS) for the period ended June 30, 2020, by the board on July 22, 2020, steps were taken to finalise the AFS with the bank’s external auditors and same submitted to the bank’s primary regulator for approval before release of same to the market.
“The bank’s primary regulator is still in the process of reviewing the AFS and same would be released to the market uponrecipt of the said approval
“In view of the foregoing, the bank requested an extension of time from the Nigerian Stock Exchnage (NSE) to publish its AFS, subsequent to which a 30 day-extension was granted. However, kindly be assured that if the approval from the primary regulator is received earlier, thebank’s AFS would be released to the market earlier than the period approved by the Exchange.”
Zenith Bank in its notification signed by Michael Osilama Otu, Company Secretary/General Counsel http://www.nse.com.ng/Financial_NewsDocs/31340_ZENITH_BANK_PLC-ZENITH_BANK_PLC_-_ANNOUNCEMENT_CORPORA.pdf said, it “wishes to notify the Nigerian Stock Exchnage and the investing public of a slight delay in the release of the audited half year finiacialreports by the bank.
“The delay is to enable the bank conclude all outstanding regulatory requirements in the course of approval of the finacial statements.
“Zenith Bank is however opstimistic that the reports will be submitted to the exchnage on or before September 30, 2020.”
