WorldStage– Ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention, the Federal Government has confirmed that 8,453 delegates from across the six geopolitical zones will converge for the exercise, in what is being positioned as a major demonstration of the party’s nationwide reach and internal cohesion.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made the disclosure on Thursday during the APC World Media Briefing in Abuja, highlighting the scale and national spread of participation expected at the convention.
He noted that the large turnout underscores the inclusiveness, organisational strength, and cohesion of the ruling party, as it continues to align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to the Minister, comprehensive preparations have been concluded to ensure that all accredited delegates are fully accommodated, stressing that no participant will be excluded. He added that the party has put in place a flexible budgetary framework capable of adjusting to meet emerging needs.
Idris further stated that the movement of delegates and committee members from different parts of the country has remained smooth and incident-free, attributing this to improvements in security and ongoing infrastructure development nationwide.
On media coverage, the Minister disclosed that a fully equipped media centre will be operational at the convention venue to facilitate timely dissemination of information, with accreditation to be granted to all qualified media organisations.
He also urged journalists to uphold professionalism, emphasising the need for responsible and balanced reportage in the national interest.Dignitaries present at the briefing included the Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa; Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo; Vice Chairman of the Central Committee, Pius Ayim; Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare; Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga; among other party stakeholders.
