WorldStage– The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the Nigeria’s university admission body, has declared as fake a viral 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result showing a score of 394 .
JAMB spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, confirmed that the result, which was widely circulated on social media and attributed to a candidate named Okon Winnifred Sampson from Cross River State, was fabricated.
According to Benjamin, the fake result was on an outdated template, and the registration number format did not match JAMB’s system-generated format, with the fake slip showing a faulty “20269” pattern.
JAMB stated that 2026 UTME results are strictly “view-only” through SMS (55019/66019) and not issued as printed slips.
The board noted that the forgery is a deliberate attempt to mislead the public, likely edited from a legitimate result notification.
As of Sunday, April 26, 2026, over 1.8 million results have been released, with the majority of candidates scoring below 200.
JAMB warned against the use of artificial intelligence tools to manipulate results, announcing that two candidates and a parent are in custody for such actions.
The admission body strongly urged the public to disregard the 394 score and rely only on official channels for results.
