WorldStage Newsonline— In a bid to enhance economic activities through steady power supply, the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) has commenced construction of 330/132/3kv, 2x150MVA and 2x60MVA transmission sub-station in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
Mr Chinedu Ugbohe, Managing Director, NDPHC said at the project, worth $18 million became necessary given the low voltage of electricity supply to Lafia and its environs.
He said Lafia over the years had been supplied electricity from the 33kv distribution line in Akwanga, adding that the line had not met the supply need of the population of Lafia.
He said that the increasing economic activities in the town had also necessitated improved electricity supply to the state.
Ugbohe said the sub-station would have the capacity to drop electricity load of 300 Mega Watts (MW) of electricity when completed.
The managing director said that the sub-station would ensure additional distribution of electricity to consumers in Lafia and other parts of the state.
He said the sub-station would also help supply electricity to FCT when the need arose, adding that FCT was being served from Shiroro power station.
According to him, the project, handled by Switzerland-based AK-AY ELEKRIC DISTIC KOLL and A&F Collenco Ltd, would be completed before the end of the year.
