WorldStage– The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results for school candidates on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

In the announcement, he highlighted that the examination recorded a 61.54% pass rate, and that out of the 1,950,726 candidates who sat for the exam, 1,200,514 candidates obtained credits and above in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
This year’s exam integrated a broader rollout of the Computer-Based Testing (CB-WASSCE) option alongside traditional paper formats.
According to him, WAEC withholds 167,486 results over examination malpractice.
Key performance statistics shows that total of 1,950,726 candidates sat for the exams, comprising of 953,459 males and 997,267 females.
As of present, 1,834,695 candidates, representing 94.05% of the total, have had their results fully processed and ready while 116,031 results (5.95%) are still undergoing final processing.
Dangut also stated that a total of 167,486 (8.59%) results are still being withheld due to various forms of examination malpractice, such as the illegal use of mobile phones in halls and organized cheating.
On how to check their results, candidates are asked to generate a Personal Identification Number (PIN) before checking their grades. According to the examination body, candidates are to follow these quick steps to access their results: Generate Your PIN: Visit the official WAEC Website to obtain your result checker PIN and serial number; access the result portal; navigate to the official WAEC direct portal; enter details by inputting 10-digit WAEC examination number; select exam details by choosing examination year (2026) and exam type (school candidates); submit by entering the generated e-PIN and serial number, then click “Submit” to view your grades.
