The Sustainable Nigerian Blue Economy – Strategy Conference scheduled to hold this month has been rescheduled to May 20th – 22nd 2025 at the Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, according to the organisers, Alfe City Institution.
The organisers in a statement said the new date is to accommodate all the Muslims and Christians holidays and ensure full participation by all stakeholders.
Mr Soji Adeleye, Chief Executive Officer, Alfe City Institution said the Uyo forum will be the last and most strategic of the advocacy series that started in 2021 with the maiden Nigeria Blue Economy Stakeholders Conference 15-17 February, 2022 in Lagos where major stakeholders had robust discussion on Blue Economy with inputs from experts from within and outside the country, including the United Nations Global Compact Sustainable Ocean Business Action Platform.
“The Sustainable Nigerian Blue Economy – Strategy Conference 2025 is specifically about providing stakeholders the solutions to most foundational and inevitable complex challenges in trying to implement the Blue Economy,” he said.
“It is hoped this window would afford those stakeholders that have not concluded their participation formalities to do so.”
He said with the success of the Sustainable Nigerian Blue Economy – Ecosystem Conference – 26-28 November, 2024 at the Hotel Presidential, Port Harcourt that brought all the essential elements together for a better understanding of the Blue Economy Ecosystem, “it’s time for decisions to be made.
“We are encouraged by the reported fact that the Nigeria national policy is currently going through the final phase of review and corrections.”
Other advocacy series on Nigerian Blue Economy by Alfe City Institution with communiques made available to the highest level of government to constitute basis of policy formulation and legislation include the Niger Delta Blue Economy Investment Forum 15-17 November, 2022, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State which highlighted the importance of the Niger Delta region to the Nigeria Blue Economy; and the Nigerian Blue Economy Discovery Conference 27-30 November, 2023 at the BWC Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos that focused on the specific potentials of the Blue Economy.
