WorldStage– Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima has directed the Steering Committee of the Presidential Food System Coordination Unit (PFSCU) to expedite action on the disbursement of the Federal Government’s ₦250 billion credit support for smallholder farmers at a single-digit interest rate.
Shettima handed down the directive during the 6th meeting of the steering committee of the Presidential Food Systems Coordinating Unit (PFSCU) earlier today, Thursday.
Emphasizing on the directive, he said “I directed expedited action on the disbursement of the Federal Government’s ₦250 billion credit support for smallholder farmers at a single-digit interest rate.
“I also told the PFSCU to come up with an implementation roadmap for the disbursement of the funds in order to avoid unnecessary delays and ensure that the target beneficiaries of the initiative were reached.
“On behalf of the PFSCU, I thank my boss, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for granting the unit the political backing to act boldly on priority reforms, notably the fertilizer raw material liberalisation and the Presidential Seed Fund.”
