WorldStage Newsonline– Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has applauded the Supreme Court verdict, which affirmed the electoral victory of President Bola Tinubu as the validly elected leader of Nigeria in the February 25, 2023 presidential election.
Governor Sanwo-Olu described the Supreme Court’s judgment as a reaffirmation of the people’s mandate, which was freely given to President Bola Tinubu to lead Nigeria from May 29, 2023, to May 29, 2027.
Sanwo-Olu, who expressed his delight at the Supreme Court’s ruling via a press statement issued on Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Gboyega Akosile urged the opposition to join hands with the President to move the country forward.
He said: “We have reached the final stage of the political journey, which started over a year ago. Today’s verdict by the Apex Court in Nigeria has ruled and stated unequivocally that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“I will enjoin all Nigerians, especially the opposition parties to join the President in his desire to take Nigeria out of her present situation to where we want it to be.
“Everyone should contribute their quota for the development of Nigeria because we don’t have any other place we can call home except Nigeria.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu also applauded the judiciary for standing up for the truth and for protecting the country’s fledgling democracy.
The Governor enjoined Nigerians across party divide to team up with President Bola Tinubu to deliver the real dividends of democracy to Nigerians through the Renewed Hope agenda of the incumbent administration, saying the Supreme Court’s verdict is a victory for democracy and the rule of law.

Gov. Umar Namadi of Jigawa has lauded the victory of President Bola Tinubu on the Oct. 26 landmark judgment at Supreme Court on the 2023 Presidential election case.
The governor in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Hamisu Gumel on Friday, congratulated the President on behalf of the people of Jigawa.
“President Tinubu received a unanimous decision in his favour in a historic ruling handed down by the Supreme Court on Thursday, reaffirming the validity of his election victory and highlighting the will of the people who chose him to lead our great country,” he said.
Namadi who expressed delight at the Supreme Court’s decision, said that it was a testament to the strength and integrity of Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
He, however, commended the judiciary for its impartiality and commitment toward upholding the rule of law.
The governor also stressed the importance of unity and collaboration in moving the nation forward.
“This verdict reaffirms the trust that the people have placed in your leadership. It is now our collective responsibility to work together in the spirit of national unity and progress.
“Let us focus on the critical issues facing our nation and continue to strive for the betterment of our people,” Namadi said.
He expressed optimism that Nigeria under President Tinubu’s leadership, will continue to progress and prosper.
NNPP
The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has wished President Bola Tinubu a successful tenure, following his victory at the Supreme Court.
The Lagos State NNPP Secretary, Mr Sheriff Oladejo said Tinubu’s victory at the Supreme Court will enable him to pay full attention to governance.
“We, as a political party, did not go to court for reasons best known to us, but some other political parties have absolute right to have approached the court if they felt they had genuine grievances.
“It is important to note that all the parties have exhausted the privileges, and the final court has given its verdict.
“We hope from this moment that the president will fully concentrate on the task of governance.
“As a party, we wish President Bola Tinubu and his party safe landing in piloting the affairs of our people,” Oladejo said.
The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal which affirmed Tinubu’s election on Feb. 25.
The court dismissed appeals by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the election, and his Labour Party Counterpart, Mr Peter Obi, against the judgment of the tribunal.
