WorldStage– The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed claims that Nigerian Navy officer Lt. Ahmed Yerima survived an assassination attempt in Abuja.
These claims are coming after a confrontation between Lt. Yerima and the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, on November 11, 2025, at a disputed land site in the Gaduwa District.
The Police described the reports as false and unverified, stating no such incident has been reported or recorded within the FCT.
Initial reports, widely shared on social media and cited by some news platforms alleged that Yerima was trailed by unidentified men in two unmarked Hilux vans on the evening of Sunday, November 16, 2025, but managed to evade them.
The incident, which went viral in videos online, involved Yerima blocking Wike’s team from accessing the site, leading to a heated exchange.
Following the alleged assassination attempt, some Nigerians online speculated about a link to the prior confrontation with Wike, while military veterans reiterated threats to occupy the FCT Ministry if Yerima faced any disciplinary action.
However, FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, urged the public to disregard the false information and refrain from spreading unverified claims capable of causing unnecessary panic.
The public is advised to contact the police through their emergency lines to report suspicious activities.
