WorldStage– The Ondo State government has called on citizens in the state to be wary of the widespread circulation of very dangerous alcoholic drinks currently making waves.
In a statement of advice titled “Public Safety Advisory – Office Of The Ondo State Governor’S Taskforce,” issued by SP Oluwapelumi Babafemi Elemide, OC/Chairman, Ondo State Governor’s Taskforce, the government alerted the public to the development and asked for caution.
The statement reads: “The Governor’s Taskforce hereby alerts the public to the widespread circulation of dangerous alcoholic cocktails (“ogogoro mix”) containing toxic substances such as tramadol, codeine, cannabis extracts, and methylated spirit.
“These mixtures are life-threatening and have led to multiple collapses, organ damage, and suspected fatalities across Akure.
“Parents, schools, youth leaders, and community stakeholders are strongly advised to warn young persons and report any distribution points to the nearest Police Division or directly to the Taskforce.
“A joint operation has been activated to shut down illegal sellers and protect the public.”
