WorldStage– Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited recorded a profit after tax of ₦535 billion in June 2026, representing a 15.8 per cent increase from the ₦462 billion recorded in May, underscoring improved operational performance despite production challenges across some upstream assets.
The figure is contained in the company’s June 2026 Monthly Financial and Operations Report, released on Friday. The report indicated that total revenue for the month stood at ₦4.389 trillion, while cumulative statutory payments to the Federation between January and June 2026 reached ₦6.286 trillion, underscoring NNPC Limited’s sustained contribution to national revenue generation.
The report attributed June’s production performance to operational disruptions, facility integrity issues, and subsurface challenges across several assets. However, these setbacks were partially offset by increased production following the completion of the Assa-Rumuekpe project and the 28-inch Trans Niger Pipeline Turnaround Maintenance (TAM) programme.
NNPC said it remains focused on sustaining upstream production growth by improving facility reliability, reducing unscheduled downtime, optimising crude export operations, and accelerating the development of new production opportunities.
The report also showed continued progress on strategic gas infrastructure projects. The Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben (OB3) Gas Pipeline reached 98 per cent completion, with final River Niger crossing tie-in works ongoing ahead of first gas expected in August 2026. Similarly, the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline achieved 94 per cent completion, with construction and installation activities being intensified to support early gas delivery to Abuja later in the year.
In the downstream sector, NNPC disclosed that Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) availability across its retail stations averaged 53 per cent during the month.
Beyond its commercial operations, the company highlighted several social impact initiatives executed through the NNPC Foundation. These included the commissioning of a state-of-the-art 1.5 Tesla MRI machine at the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Dala, Kano, where 40 patients received free MRI scans, improving access to advanced diagnostic healthcare in the region.
The Foundation also partnered with Pan-Atlantic University to host the second Symposium on Energy and Sustainable Environmental Communication in Nigeria, bringing together academics and communication experts to discuss climate change, environmental sustainability, and Nigeria’s energy transition.
In addition, the NNPC Foundation delivered its 2026 Basic Financial Literacy Programme to 81,748 NYSC Batch B, Stream I corps members across the country, raising the cumulative number of beneficiaries under the initiative to 1,324,984.
NNPC noted that all production, sales, and financial figures contained in the report remain provisional and are subject to reconciliation with relevant stakeholders.
