WorldStage– Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor completed his registration with the APC on Sunday at the T.Y. Danjuma House in Jalingo, the state capital.
He disclosed that a formal public event to announce his defection would be held at a later date.
According to reports, Kefas becomes the first sitting governor of Taraba State to defect from the PDP since the return to democratic rule in 1999.
The governor was quoted as saying that his decision to join the APC was driven by the need to align Taraba State with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, with the aim of accelerating development and attracting greater federal support to the state.
The registration exercise was conducted by officials of the APC in Taraba State, including representatives of the state executive council, the Wukari Local Government Area chapter, and Hospital Ward party executives.
