WorldStage— Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza, a Kebbi State High Court judge, has reportedly been abducted by suspected bandits around midnight of Saturday of July 25, 2026.
The armed raid was said to have occurred at the judge’s residence along Zogirma Road in the Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
According to community and family sources, the attack transpired shortly after Justice Bunza returned home from a trip to neighboring Sokoto State.
The gunmen, sources further narrated, stormed the property, shouting and shooting sporadically into the air to create panic, before whisking the judge away to an undisclosed location.
“Fortunately, no members of his household or neighbours suffered physical harm during the invasion,” sources added.
The Kebbi State Police Command, through the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, has confirmed the abduction.
The state Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Muhammad Hadejia, has immediately deployed tactical units and intelligence teams to comb nearby forest areas and suspect hideouts in an intense bid to secure the judge’s safe rescue.
A senior official within the state judiciary has also revealed that the leadership of the Kebbi State High Court has initiated strategic emergency consultations with heads of security agencies to coordinate rescue efforts.
As of now, no criminal group has claimed responsibility or made contact regarding ransom.
