WorldStage— The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has expressed delight over the rescue of 308 persons abducted in separate attacks in Kwara and Niger States, Nigeria.
The Speaker stated that it is not just a huge relief to the victims and their families but also to the people and the government of Nigeria.
The Speaker, while commending the Armed Forces and other collaborators for the safe return of the abductees, said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has further exhibited his administration’s commitment to the security of life and property in Nigeria.
The security forces reportedly rescued 163 of those abducted from Woro Community in the Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State and another 145 rescued around Kainji Lake National Park forest in the New Bussa Local Government Area of Niger State.
Speaker Abbas, who described the successful rescue operations as a welcome development and a huge relief to all Nigerians, called for strategic preventive measures against insecurity.
He expressed his confidence in the capacity of the country’s security forces to prevent crime, and restated the commitment of the House to legislative interventions and empowerment that will further strengthen the country’s security architecture.
