WorldStage– Security agencies have launched a full-scale investigation and manhunt to track down and apprehend those responsible for the killing of a senior military intelligence officer, Colonel Abdussalam A. Ude killed in an Abuja abduction attempt
Ude lost his life on Monday evening after fiercely fighting off á armed attackers at his residence in Kurudu, Abuja.
Residents in Kurudu have described his death as a tragic loss in the Federal Capital Territory as a decorated Nigerian military intelligence officer.
According to preliminary reports, the gunmen ambushed Colonel inside his compound as he returned home from work.
Rather than surrendering to an abduction, the officer put up a valiant fight, refusing to be taken hostage.
Tragically, he was fatally shot at close range during the struggle.
According to statements from some residents of Kurudu, the violence did not stop there as the assailants opened fire on the residence, injuring his wife, his driver and his security guard.
All three reportedly sustained gunshot injuries and are currently receiving emergency medical care in the hospital.
Col. Ude, an indigene of Enugu State, was said to be widely respected across the military intelligence community for his calm composure and bravery under préssure.
He was due for promotion to Brigadier General next year.
“Our prayers and condolences go out to his family, colleagues and loved ones during this devastating time.
May his soul rest in peace,” residents of Kurudu stated.
