*Congratulates Senator Yari, Seyi Tinubu on Yoruba chieftaincy titles
WorldStage– President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has constituted the reconciliation committee for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State and appointed the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, as its chairman.
This is the second time the President has saddled the Speaker with such a responsibility, having chaired the APC reconciliation committee for Bauchi about four months ago.
The Benue APC reconciliation committee is to address and resolve the internal crisis within the party.
The specific mandates of the committee include: investigate the root causes of factionalism and disunity in the Benue APC; engage key stakeholders and party organs to achieve reconciliation; propose structural, procedural, and strategic reforms for sustainable peace and political cohesion; and submit a comprehensive report with recommendations for presidential consideration.
Members of the committee include Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State; Di
Senator Abdulaziz Yari; former House of Reps Speaker, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political Matters, Alhaji Ibrahim Masari.
The Chief of Staff to the Speaker, Prof. Jake Dan-Azumi, is the secretary to the committee, while the Chief of Staff to the governor of Yobe State, Abdullahi Gashua, will be a member of the secretariat.
The committee is set to commence its assignment in earnest by engaging with all the relevant stakeholders.
In August this year, President Tinubu appointed Speaker Abbas to chair the APC reconciliation committee for Bauchi State, which has concluded its assignment.
YORUBA CHIEFTAINCY TITLES
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has congratulated a former Governor of Zamfara State and lawmaker representing Zamfara West Senatorial District, Senator Abdul’Aziz Yari, and Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the chieftaincy titles bestowed on them by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade.
The Alaafin, at a colourful ceremony held at his palace in Oyo town on Sunday, installed Senator Yari as the Obaloyin of Yorubaland and Seyi Tinubu as the Okanlomo of Yorubaland.
The Speaker described the chieftaincy titles as “honours well deserved” by the recipients, saying that the gesture by Oba Owoade has further bridged the ethno-religious divides in the country.
Abbas especially noted that the titles have rewarded service to humanity and philanthropy, which he said are virtues that Senator Yari and Seyi Tinubu commonly share.
While congratulating the recipients, the Speaker urged them to continue to foster unity and patriotism among Nigerians, adding that they now carry more responsibilities as honorary Yoruba traditional leaders.
