Mr Akeem Dauda, the Chairman, Ikeja Local Government, on Friday led council officials to the Lagos Computer Village for the deployment of QR Codes on business premises.
The exercise introduced unique codes on registered shops, aimed at tightening compliance and curbing leakages in local tax administration.
Dauda explained that the system was part of an automated revenue framework designed to improve transparency and accountability in collections.
“Revenue must be properly accounted for, to support community services and development,” he said.
He noted that the QR Codes would simplify monitoring, strengthen enforcement, and ensure payments are made through authorised government channels.
The chairman urged traders to adapt to the technology-driven process and meet obligations by paying the approved levies.
Representatives of the market community acknowledged the initiative, stressing the importance of cooperation with government structures.
Mr Ugochukwu Ekeh, a Representative of the traders, said they welcomed the system and pledged to cooperate fully with the local government.
“We welcome this initiative and will cooperate fully to ensure compliance with the new system,” he said.Stressing the importance of cooperation with government structures, Ekeh assured the authorities that the traders would comply to support sustainable development in Ikeja.
