WorldStage Newsonline– The Comptroller-General (C-G) of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi has directed zonal coordinators to rejig and monitor warehouse operations located in their zones.
Adeniyi at the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC) conference on Friday in Abuja expressed concern that the warehouse codes had been violated, stating that the move was to ensure the warehouses were in good condition and well secured to prevent security breaches.
He added that the monitoring was crucial to ensure periodic reviews were conducted to improve operations where necessary.
“I think zonal offices should help us in monitoring the operations of these warehouses and submit reports,” he said.
He directed the relevant officials to ensure that all necessary arrangements were made for its transition to electronic transire by the first quarter of 2025.
According to him, the transire is necessary to improve service delivery and trade facilitation.
The theme of the conference which took place from Nov. 12 to 15 was “NCS: Engaging Traditional and New Partners with Purpose,”.
