WorldStage– An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, John Okolo, has predicted a landslide victory and overwhelming support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Kogi State and the entire North-Central geopolitical zone ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking in Lokoja, Okolo attributed this anticipated political backing to a combination of strategic federal appointments, notable improvements in regional security, and tangible infrastructure projects executed by the current administration.
He placed specific emphasis on the appointment of Lieutenant-General Waidi Shaibu as the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), noting that it has deeply resonated with the people of Kogi State and the broader North-Central region.
According to Okolo, Shaibu—an indigene of Olamaboro Local Government Area in Kogi State—represents a historic recognition of the zone’s valuable contributions to national service and security.
“The appointment of Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu means a lot to the North Central and to Kogi people,” Okolo stated, adding “this is an opportunity we will not take for granted. The time for rewarding Mr. President is here. The Igala will give a unanimous decision and will not allow vote splits.”
Beyond high-level military appointments, the APC chieftain credited the new army leadership with measurable security gains across local communities.
He highlighted faster military response times, enhanced collaboration between troops and traditional authorities, and a noticeable reduction in the frequency of attacks in vulnerable rural areas as key drivers of renewed civilian confidence in the federal government.
Okolo also drew attention to ongoing infrastructural developments, pointing to the near-completion of military barracks in Anyigba and various rural development initiatives as proof of the administration’s sincere commitment to the region.
He lamented that the North-Central zone had historically been treated merely as a political stepping stone by past administrations, praising President Tinubu for shifting the paradigm through inclusive governance and visible grassroots development.
Okolo urged residents of Kogi and neighboring North-Central states to consolidate their loyalty to the ruling party, asserting that the tangible dividends of democracy and improved safety will naturally translate into massive block votes for President Tinubu in 2027.
