Alfa Designs Nigeria Ltd. on Friday unveiled a suite of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) technologies as part of its drive to deepen the country’s clean-energy transition and support the Federal Government’s Presidential CNG Initiative (PCNGI).
The event, held in partnership with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), featured the unveiling of CNG conversion kits by Mijo AutoGas, and specialised CNG cylinders by EKC International.
Also unveiled were infrastructure for CNG mother and daughter stations by CIMC ENRIC, and an Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) camera, produced by Opgal Optronics, for detecting invisible gas leaks.
The Group Managing Director, Alfa Designs, Mr Fatai Quadri, said the company’s intensified investment in CNG solutions was a continuation of its two-decade track record in engineering and asset-management innovation.
Fatai, who was represented by Mr Mubarak Abdul, Chief Operating Officer, Alfa Designs, said that the innovation was predicated on its Engineering, Procurement, Installation, Commissioning and Asset Integrity Management (EPICA) framework.
“Alfa Designs is championing its clean-energy strategy through the Alfa Designs Carbon Footprint Emission Reduction Management System (ACFEMS), which underpins the research and development that informed the company’s new CNG initiative.
“Our efforts are in line with global climate-action commitments, including the Paris Agreement, and Nigeria’s national plan to cut emissions and expand access to low-carbon energy,” he said.
According to him, Alfa Designs has strengthened its involvement across the CNG value chain through several strategic partnerships.
He said the collaboration with Mijo AutoGas would boost access to reliable CNG conversion kits, while the partnership with EKC Cylinders of Dubai would ensure steady supply of high-grade CNG cylinders for vehicular and industrial applications.
Fatai added that the alliance with CIMC ENRIC would support the development of CNG mother and daughter stations that compress and distribute natural gas for commercial and transportation use.
He explained that the company also introduced an OGI camera, capable of detecting odourless CNG leaks, to enhance safety and operational efficiency at CNG facilities nationwide.
“With these partnerships and technologies, Alfa Designs is providing a complete CNG ecosystem — from gas processing to conversion and leak detection,” he said.
He emphasised the company’s commitment to accelerating Nigeria’s shift to affordable and cleaner energy sources and commended NAN for its long-standing collaboration, describing the partnership as mutually beneficial and steadily evolving.
Earlier, the Managing Director of NAN, Mr Ali M. Ali, described the unveiling as a significant step for both organisations, noting that Alfa Designs’ initiative aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly its focus on sustainable development and economic competitiveness.
Ali said that Nigeria’s expanding population and rapid urbanisation underscored the need for modern, cost-effective and cleaner energy options, with CNG emerging as a credible alternative to traditional fuels.
He highlighted the role of the media in shaping public understanding and acceptance of new technologies, stressing that NAN’s partnership with Alfa Designs reflected its mandate to promote national development and amplify innovations that advance the country’s energy priorities.
The NAN MD urged stakeholders to maximise technological solutions and information dissemination to fast-track Nigeria’s transition to cleaner energy and deepen environmental sustainability.
