WorldStage– The Ministry of Steel Development has inaugurated the Enterprise Content Management System (ECMS) which is now live on the 1-Gov Platform.
The initiative, inaugurated by the Steel Minister, Prince Shuaibu Audu, was aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, improving data management and fostering transparency within the ministry’s operations.
It also indicates that the ministry’s Standard Operating Procedures have been fully automated.
Mrs Maureen Tine-Iulun, the Assistant Director, Information and Public Relations of the ministry made this known in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.
Audu at the inauguration expressed confidence that the deployment of ECMS would enable the ministry to digitise records, automate workflows and provide secured access to vital information.
“The ECMS, designed to streamline the management of documents and information across various departments, will enable the ministry to digitise records and automate workflow.
“It will also provide secured access to vital information, thereby reducing reliance on paper-based processes and enhancing collaboration among staff, “ he said.
Audu said that the initiative was designed to go beyond deploying technology, fostering efficiency, strengthening accountability, empowering the workforce and improving service delivery.
He said these would ultimately support the growth of Nigeria’s steel industry.
On his part, the ministry`s Permanent Secretary, Dr Chris Isokpunwu, said the unveiling of the ECM signified the ministry’s formal entry into a new era of integrated digital governance.
He said that the ECM was being championed by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
“The `One-Gov` initiative is a landmark reform designed to ensure that government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies operate as one connected system, enabling better data sharing, transparency, and efficient service delivery, “ he said.
Isokpunwu described the transition as more than a technological shift.
He added that it presented an opportunity to modernise internal processes, strengthen coordination and improve how the ministry delivers on its mandate to revitalise the steel sector.
He urged the ministry’s staff to embrace the change with enthusiasm, adapt to the system and remain committed to excellence.
The permanent secretary acknowledged the minister`s strategic guidance and support that made the inauguration possible.
