WorldStage– The Kaduna State Police Command has announced the arrest of 24 suspected kidnappers and the recovery of a substantial cache of arms.
The command made the announcement at a press briefing held by the Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Rabiu, in Kaduna.
According to CP Rabiu, the breakthrough operations spanned multiple locations across the state, stating that the success stemmed from intelligence-led surveillance, rapid response tactics, and active collaboration with sister security agencies and community-based security structures.
During the raids, he said, police operatives recovered numerous dangerous items, including various firearms, two AK-47 magazines, over 500 rounds of live ammunition, 38 live cartridges, and a traditional bag containing charms used by the syndicates.
Rabiu disclosed that a major milestone in the crackdown occurred on September 24 when operatives from Operation Fushin Kada, stationed in Kudan Local Government Area, intercepted a 45-year-old suspect named Abdullahi Ibrahim during a routine patrol around the Maraban Kanja area.
He said subsequent search of the suspect led to the immediate recovery of two locally made AK-47 rifles, nine locally made long guns, ten locally made pistols, two AK-47 magazines, fifty rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and thirty-eight live cartridges.
Police authorities confirmed that investigations remain active as efforts continue to track down other fleeing members of the criminal network.
Commissioner Rabiu reaffirmed the command’s commitment to dismantling illicit arms supply chains and denying criminal elements any space to operate within Kaduna State.
The police have vowed to maintain aggressive proactive patrols and intelligence gathering to safeguard local communities.
