WorldStage– Former Speaker of the Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has pledged to mobilise massive grassroots support to secure the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Bauchi State and across Nigeria’s North-East geopolitical zone ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Dogara made the commitment on during the formal inauguration ceremony of the Tinubu Support Bauchi 2027 campaign movement held in the capital city of Bauchi.
Speaking through his representative, Haruna Aliyu, who serves as his political aide and the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bauchi South Zonal Youth Leader, the former Speaker threw his full weight behind the newly established political structure.
“As one of his staff members and among those mobilising young people, I believe it is important for us to attend this gathering to honour our leader and demonstrate our unwavering support for him,” Aliyu said.
He added that Dogara had consistently supported youths through mentorship, employment opportunities and empowerment initiatives, stressing that the former Speaker had remained committed to improving the lives of young Nigerians even after leaving public office.
Aliyu further urged APC supporters across the country to join the movement, saying the gathering represented an opportunity to demonstrate solidarity with President Tinubu’s administration and contribute to the success of his re-election campaign.
In his acceptance speech, Chairman of the Tinubu Support Bauchi 2027 movement, Musa Naa-Manzo, described the inauguration as the beginning of an extensive grassroots mobilisation campaign designed to secure Tinubu’s victory in the next presidential election.
According to Naa-Manzo, Nigeria is at a critical moment that requires bold and visionary leadership, expressing confidence that President Tinubu possesses the experience and capacity to transform the country’s challenges into opportunities for sustainable growth and development.
He assured party faithful that the movement would work tirelessly to deliver an overwhelming victory for the president in the next electoral cycle.
The former Speaker emphasized that President Tinubu’s administration continues to command a distinct majority of public support across the country.
He explained that this loyalty is rooted in the government’s bold economic reforms, regional infrastructure growth, and targeted security interventions, which are already transforming the North-East.
Dogara dismissed lingering assertions that the ruling party faces a decline in popularity within Bauchi State but instead asserted that the APC remains a resilient and dominant political force capable of winning local electorates.
However, the political endorsement came alongside clear expectations from local stakeholders.
Dogara conveyed the specific demands of the Bauchi electorate, emphasizing that two major developmental projects are vital to guaranteeing effortless voter turnout for the president.
These, according to him, include the immediate revival and scaling up of oil exploration along the Kolmani Oil River fields, shared between Bauchi and Gombe states, and the fast-tracking of construction of the Bagel-Zungur Multipurpose Dam in the Dass Local Government Area.
According to Dogara, delivering on these critical interventions would automatically cement President Tinubu’s legacy in the region, exponentially improve local job creation, generate electricity, and drive economic self-sufficiency.
He added that the successful execution of these landmark projects would render extensive campaigning in Bauchi virtually unnecessary by 2027. The move by the former lawmaker signifies an early consolidation of northern political alliances, positioning the APC for an aggressive grassroots outreach strategy in the months leading up to the national polls.
