WorldStage– The Coronation Infrastructure Fund (CNIF) has released its unaudited investor report for the third quarter ended September 30, 2026, showcasing robust deployment velocity, strong risk-adjusted yields, and impressive secondary market performance on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX).
As private credit and infrastructure asset classes gain traction amid evolving macroeconomic conditions, the fund continues to bridge Nigeria’s capital deficit through disciplined, senior-secured project financing.
Key Financial & Portfolio Highlights (Q3 2026)
Capital Deployment: Deployed ₦2.73 billion during the third quarter across critical infrastructure pillars, including energy, social infrastructure, and real estate.
Weighted Average Yield: Maintained an attractive 21.03% yield across its portfolio, underpinned by a floating-rate, senior-secured lending strategy designed to outpace headline inflation.
Net Asset Value (NAV): Closed the quarter with a Net Asset Value of ₦9.44 billion (NAV per unit at ₦107.29, up from ₦100 at launch).
Market Performance & Premium: Traded unit price appreciated sharply by 33.0% during the quarter, moving from ₦116.00 to close at ₦154.30 on the NGX—representing a 43.82% premium over its NAV per unit.
Distributions: Paid out the H1 2026 distribution of ₦8.985 per unit (totaling ₦789.78 million), bringing cumulative distributions to ₦3.31 billion across three payout cycles since inception.
Disciplined Deployment and Strategic Pipeline Progress
Led by Mayowa Ikotun, the Fund continued executing its mandate with a strict focus on robust credit fundamentals and cash-flow-resilient assets. Following recent capital allocations, the portfolio’s asset allocation stands at 100% Senior Project Finance Loans, fitting squarely within its mandated 90%–100% strategic asset allocation framework.
Active projects making steady milestone progress include:
Project Light (Energy IPP): A 30MW independent power project operating under an embedded generation framework to supply leading corporates. Commercial operations remain on track for Q1 2027 (representing 40.50% of portfolio weight).
Project Auto (Transportation Logistics): Financing the acquisition of 300 Sinotruk trucks (expanding total fleet to 1,160 units) to facilitate FMCG logistics across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones (22.69% portfolio weight).
Project Abode (Real Estate): A 3,000-unit affordable housing Public-Private Partnership (PPP) addressing urban housing deficits in the South-East region (13.87% portfolio weight).
Project Titan (Social Infrastructure): A 548-bedspace student housing development at a Federal University slated for completion in Q1 2027 (10.22% portfolio weight).
Series 2 Capital Raise and Market Outlook
To capitalize on Nigeria’s vast infrastructure pipeline—estimated by the National Integrated Infrastructure Master Plan (NIIMP) to require roughly US$100 billion annually—the Fund commenced its Series 2 capital raise of up to ₦20 billion following SEC approval.
Analysts note that with Nigerian pension funds managing over ₦31 trillion but allocating only 1.57% to infrastructure assets as of August 2026, revised PenCom guidelines create substantial headroom for institutional capital deployment into instruments like CNIF.
With a weighted average loan tenor of 3.4 years and strong credit ratings from Agusto & Co. and GCR (A-(IM)), the Coronation Infrastructure Fund remains a bellwether for private debt performance in Nigeria’s capital markets.
