*Commits to strengthen social impact initiatives in healthcare, water access, responsible consumption
WorldStage– Guinness Nigeria Plc says it is strengthening its social impact initiatives in healthcare, water access and responsible consumption as it marks 76 years of indigenous manufacturing operations in Nigeria.
The company in a statement on Thursday in Lagos said its interventions dated back to 1962 with the establishment of the Guinness Eye Centre at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, alongside a second facility in Onitsha.
It added that its “Water of Life” initiative has continued to provide potable water to underserved communities across the country.
The company also said it has sustained campaigns promoting responsible drinking and road safety as part of its commitment to societal well-being.
The Managing Director of the company, Mr Girish Sharma, said the company’s longevity was closely tied to its engagement with host communities.
“Our role extends beyond business. We are committed to making a meaningful impact in the communities where we operate,” Sharma said.
He noted that the company’s social investments have helped shape its identity as a responsible corporate organisation over the decades.
He revealed that following its establishment in 1950, Guinness Nigeria inaugurated its first brewery in Ikeja in 1962 and has since grown into a major player in the country’s beverage industry.
Sharma said Nigeria remained one of the company’s most significant markets globally, driven by strong consumer connection and sustained investment.
According to him, the company’s ‘Build for More” strategy is aimed at strengthening its leadership in the beverage sector through innovation and operational efficiency.
He added that the company would continue to deepen its local manufacturing base and support economic development.
Sharma said the company would continue to build on its legacy of impact while strengthening its operations.
According to him, Guinness Nigeria remains focused on initiatives that improve quality of life and support sustainable development.
