WorldStage– The Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) on Monday announced the successful completion of the tenure of its Managing Director, Aliyu Tahir which ended on Dec.31, 2025.
Astatement by Mrs Ama Umoren, Head Communications and Protocol of NEMSA said that the completion was in compliance with the circular referenced No. SGF/OP//I/S.3/T/39 dated Aug.28, 2019 from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) on End-of-Tenure Processes and Succession Guidelines for Heads of Extra-Ministerial Departments and Agencies.
According to her, upon expiration of his tenure, Tahir formally handed over affairs of the agency to the most senior Executive Director, Corporate Services, Mr Utsu Ashibel, pending appointment of a substantive managing director
”The handover was conducted strictly in accordance with the provisions of the SGF circular, which requires outgoing chief executive officers to hand over to the next most senior person in the establishment.
”This to ensure continuity, stability, and adherence to due process in public service administration,”she said.
Umoren said that Tahir’s tenure was marked by notable strides in institutional strengthening, improved regulatory enforcement, enhanced operational efficiency.
She said that his tenure was marked by renewed stakeholder confidence in NEMSA’s mandate of ensuring safety, quality, and compliance within the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry.
”Under his leadership, the agency recorded measurable progress in inspection, testing, certification, automation of service delivery processes, and strategic collaborations with key sector stakeholders.
”NEMSA reassures stakeholders and the public that the agency remains fully operational and steadfast in the delivery of its statutory responsibilities, with no disruption to its regulatory, inspection, certification, and safety oversight functions.
”The management and staff of NEMSA commend Tahir for his dedicated service and leadership and reaffirm the agency’s commitment to sustaining the reforms and progress achieved during his tenure,”he said.
