*Alleges threat to his life, team members’ over oil and gas industry reforms
WorldStage Newsonline– Few days after the Presidency and EFCC dismissed reports of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) Bayo Ojulari’s forced resignation, labeling them as “fake news” the man himself has expressed worries about potential dangers to his life and the safety of company management team members.
Ojulari expressed the worry on Thursday during a meeting at the NNPCL headquarters in Abuja with a delegation from the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASAN), led by President Festus Osifo.
The head of NNPCL voiced concerns regarding possible threats to both his personal safety and that of some members of the management team.
Giving reason for the threat, Ojulari said his primary offence was implementing reforms in the oil and gas industry, following President Bola Tinubu’s directive to rejuvenate the nation’s struggling refineries.
He noted that certain influential groups are scheming to have him removed.
However, he said regardless of the intimidation he remained committed to keeping his attention on the refinery rehabilitation plan’s success.
He stated that he does not consider himself a politician and acknowledged that he would need to gain a better understanding of politics.
He said, “I’m not hiding from anybody. I’m not a politician. I will have to learn a bit more about politics, but for me, it is a development plan, and I’m ready to learn.”
