WorldStage Newsonline– All is set for the Odu’a International Trade Fair, jointly organised by Osun, Ogun, Ondo, Oyo and Ekiti states between Oct. 18 and Oct. 29 in Ibadan.
Oyo State Commissioner for Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperatives, Mr Adebisi Adeniyi said on Wednesday in Ibadan that Oyo State government would launch a farmers’ market during the trade fair to foster entrepreneurship in the South-West zone.
According to him, the farmers’ market will provide an avenue for farmers to sell their produce at affordable prices and also empower them economically.
He stressed the need for supporting local farmers and promoting agriculture in the state and its environs.
The Chairman, Organising Committee for the trade fair, Mr Kola Akosile, gave the theme of the exercise as: “Harnessing Food Security Systems and Natural Resources for Sustainable Development and Wealth Creation.”
Akosile said that the fair would also feature “a showcase of the state’s agricultural prowess, with a focus on food security and natural resources in the South-West zone.
“This will create wealth and promote sustainable development,” he said.
The chairman also listed the products and services expected to be showcased at the trade fair to include: agriculture and agro-allied products, manufactured goods as well as electronic goods and services from agencies such as NAFDAC and SON.
He stated that the trade fair would also highlight artificial intelligence applications, technology displays and satellite imaging for agricultural management to showcase the latest innovations in precision agriculture
