A member of House of Representatives, Mr Okunjimi Odimayo, has distributed federal employment letters to 20 youths in Okitipupa and Irele Local Government Areas of Ondo State.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Odimayo, representing Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency, distributed the letters to the selected beneficiaries in Irele on Friday.
He said that the move was aimed at creating employment for youths and enhancing community development in his constituency.
“This is to create an avenue for young people to secure stable employment.
“I am confident that the job opportunities will not only provide immediate relief to the beneficiaries but also contribute to the overall economic development of my constituency,” he said.
The lawmaker also pledged to pay bursaries to students in Okitipupa and Irele council areas, stressing that the gesture was part of his broader plan to support education and youth development in his constituency.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain also gave an update on the ongoing construction of a solar-powered modern medical laboratory center in the constituency.
He said that the contractor handling the project had assured that the laboratory would be ready for inaugurated in the next three months.
“When completed, the facility is expected to significantly enhance healthcare delivery in the region, providing essential diagnostic services to residents,” he said.
Odimayo said that no fewer than 10 constituents with backgrounds in Medical Laboratory Science and Medical Laboratory Technicians would undergo a month training, after which they would be employed at the facility.
According to him, the facility will be managed by Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owo when completed.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr Olarenwaju Iluyemi, commended Odimayo for his commitment to ending poverty in his constituency, saying that the employment would go a long way in enhancing youth empowerment.
Another beneficiary, Mr Ayodeji Manuwa, who also praised the lawmaker for the employment opportunities, pledged to be a good ambassador of the constituency in his work place and extend a helping hand to others too.
In his remarks, the APC Chairman in Okitipupa council area, Mr Bode Ikulala, commended Odimayo for his ‘outstanding performance’ in the lower legislative chamber, saying it was worthy of emulation.
Also, the APC Chairman in Irele local government area, Chief Zacheaus Omoge, commended Odimayo for his efforts at unifying the party.
Other APC stalwarts, who spoke at the occasion, also expressed appreciation to the lawmaker for his commitment to youth empowerment and for his quality representation.
They urged other constituents who had not benefitted from the lawmaker’s gestures to exercise patience.
NAN reports that the occasion was attended by several APC chieftains, traditional rulers, youths and residents of Okitipupa and Irele council areas.
