WorldStage– The Federal Government has inaugurated the Joint Planning Committee (JPC) for the 32nd Nigerian Economic Summit (NES32).
Th8a marks a milestone in strengthening collaboration with the private sector for national development.
The Minister of State, Federal Budget and Economic Planning (FMBEP), Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite, inaugurated the committee in Abuja on Thursday.

She said that the inauguration underscored the importance of public-private partnerships, which has consistently driven economic growth, innovation and sustainable development in both advanced and emerging economies.
Uzoka-Anite described the NES platform as a successful model of collaboration, demonstrating how government and private sector alignment can advance a shared national vision and deliver impactful policy outcomes.
She commended members of the committee for successfully organising the 31st NES, noting the high participation level and quality policy recommendations that emerged from the previous edition.
The minister also praised the leadership of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) and the FMBEP for their commitment to sustaining the summit’s relevance and effectiveness.
Uzoka-Anite said that that NES32 was scheduled for October in Abuja, with preparations already underway.
The minister said that the joint planning committee was tasked with planning and executing the summit, with members drawn from both public and private sectors based on expertise, experience and commitment to national development.
She said that the committee would review outcomes of previous summits, develop a relevant theme, prepare programmes, determine budgets, mobilise stakeholders and produce post-summit reports, including the Green Book.
Uzoka-Anite said they were also expected to engage key stakeholders across federal, state and local governments, as well as legislative bodies, to ensure broad participation and effective implementation of summit outcomes.
She said that the committee would operate under a collaborative framework coordinated by the FMBEP and the NESG to ensure balanced representation.
The minister said that the Federal Government would ensure strong public sector participation, while urging the private sector to broaden inclusion to institutions such as manufacturers and chambers of commerce.
She said that public sector members of the committee included key institutions such as the Central Bank of Nigeria, Debt Management Office, Nigeria Governors Forum Secretariat and relevant ministries and agencies.
She expressed confidence that the committee’s diverse expertise would deliver a successful summit capable of addressing critical issues and advancing the country’s development priorities.
The minister said that the summit would support implementation of the National Development Plan (NDP) 2026–2030 and contribute to achieving the long-term Nigeria Agenda 2050 goals.
The NESG Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr Tayo Aduloju, said that the summit was a miracle, having overcome institutional distrust adding that it is the longest unbroken public-private dialogue.
He said that the inauguration of the JPC signalled the beginning of a critical process in shaping the summit’s agenda and outcomes.
Aduloju said that the NES continued to serve as a credible and widely recognised platform for fostering consensus, strengthening public-private dialogue, and advancing the country’s economic reform priorities.
He highlighted the urgency of addressing Nigeria’s current economic realities, including slow growth, rising cost of living, unemployment, and widening inequality.
The CEO said that the NES32 presented a strategic opportunity to deepen reforms, drive inclusive growth and galvanise collective action toward sustainable national development.
He also commended all the stakeholders’ for their support over the years.
