WorldStage Newsonline.. Members of the Senate and House of Representatives have indicated they would resume sitting next week, contrary to earlier announcement of two weeks extension of their recess.
However, findings by WorldStage showed that the two legislative chambers of the National Assembly are still undergoing renovations.
As of the time of visit by our reporters to the two chambers, artisans were seeing busy fixing infrastructure and communication gadgets.
A few of the staff of the National Assembly spoken to by our reporters, and who preferred anonymity expressed disappointment at the rate and level of work done so far, maintaining that the renovation work was supposed to have been concluded long ago.
Some of those spoken to also recalled that similar late delivery on contract was experienced with the construction of the main gate of the assembly, which according to them is yet to be perfected.
Findings also revealed that extent of renovation work going on at the assembly is so massive that, aside the two legislative chambers, almost all the perimeters of both chambers on the ground and second floors are covered in the renovation work.
Observers said with the level of work going on and what still remains to be covered, the chambers may not be ready by the time the lawmakers resume for legislative operations next week.
It was however gathered that should the chambers not be ready for use next week, there are about two alternative halls which the lawmakers can use for their legislative duties.
