WorldStage– The Lagos State Government on Tuesday said its Bus Services Ltd. (LBSL) transported over 60 million passengers from May 2019 to February 2025.
This is contained in a statement by the state Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi.
The statement was signed by Mrs Bolale Ogunlola, Director of Public Affairs in the Ministry of Transportation.
According to Osiyemi, LBSL improved its public transport and provided residents with more affordable and accessible mobility options.
“The agency currently transports over 42,266 passengers daily with an average of 1,000 bus trips everyday.
“LBSL has continued to provide affordable transportation for Lagos residents, and since inception, the average LBSL fare has remained cheaper than average fares of the informal transport operators,” he said.
The commissioner said LBSL maintained the widest public bus network coverage in Lagos state, operating across all five IBILE divisions and 13 local government areas, including Ibeju-Lekki, Ojo and Ikorodu.
“The agency operates 21 corridors and over 40 bus service routes across the state.”
He added that it had a fleet of 300 buses.
Osiyemi said the achievements reflected the commitment of Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration toward building an integrated, safe, affordable and efficient transport system for Lagos residents in line with its THEMES Plus Agenda.
He added that the state government remained committed to expanding public transport infrastructure and improving connectivity across road, rail and water transport modes.
