The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, has ordered the immediate dismissal and criminal prosecution of ASP Nuhu Usman and other police officers implicated in the extrajudicial killing of a 28-year-old suspect, Mene Ogidi, in Effurun, Delta State.

The incident occurred on April 26, 2026, when Effurun Area Command operatives responded to a report involving illegal ammunition, leading to the apprehension of 28-year-old Mene Ogidi.
Video footage showed that ASP Nuhu Usman shot the handcuffed, restrained suspect at close range, a clear violation of force regulations.
The Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC) swiftly found the action to be unlawful and unprofessional, leading to the prompt approval of the dismissal of Usman and his team by the IGP.
