The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), on Tuesday unveiled a 10-point agenda to transform the institute and boost members’ relevance.
President of ICAN, Mallam Haruna Yahaya, disclosed this during a meeting with members of the institute in Minna.
He listed the agenda to include digital transformation of the examination process, revitalising the ICAN brand, enhancing members’ employability and empowering Small and Medium Practices (SMPs).
Yahaya said others were deepening global certification and recognition pathways, institutionalising thought leadership and policy advocacy.
He added that the institute planned to strengthen internal capacity, becoming a pillar for national regulation and anti-corruption, as well as, celebrating the institute at 60 with legacy and vision.
“We will commence e-examination and all examination processes will be electronic going by international best practices.
“This is to ensure our certification process complies with global standards,” he said.
He added that the institute planned to engage and retain Generation Z, noting that the institute would establish a student’s special centre in Niger to train young accountants and make them relevant in the profession.
The president further disclosed plans to enhance members’ employability by training them on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other relevant tools to enhance effective client service.
In his remarks, Mallam Mustapha Lemu, Chairman of ICAN in Niger, thanked the president for the visit and pledged members unwavering support to his leadership.
