The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Umar Yusuf, has reaffirmed the Kogi State Government’s commitment to strengthening its relationship with Dangote Cement Plc.
He made this statement on Thursday in Lokoja during the handover of a multi-million-naira Security Outpost built by Dangote Cement.
The new Security Outpost, located within the premises of the State House of Assembly, is expected to enhance the security architecture of the Assembly. The Speaker praised the company for its role in supporting peace and security efforts in the state.
“This act of generosity has further solidified our partnership. We deeply appreciate this gesture, and it is not taken for granted,” Yusuf said, extending his gratitude to Aliko Dangote, the founder of the Dangote Group, for his vision, business acumen, and commitment to humanitarian causes.
Speaking at the event, the Plant Director of Dangote Cement’s Obajana Plant, Engr. Azad Nawabuddin, emphasized the importance of security in ensuring the continuity of business operations in Kogi State. Represented by the company’s General Manager for Human Asset Management and Administration, Mr. Adeniyi Azeez, Nawabuddin remarked: “This initiative goes beyond giving back; it’s about fostering enduring partnerships that benefit both our company and Kogi State. Security, sustainability, and prosperity are intertwined, and we are confident that through our ongoing contributions, we can help build a safer, healthier, and more prosperous future.”
Nawabuddin further highlighted that Dangote Cement’s success is measured not only by its achievements but by the positive impact it makes in its host communities. “Corporate Social Responsibility is central to our business strategy. We are dedicated to driving sustainable development, strengthening local economies, and supporting the social welfare of Kogi State,” he added.
During a tour of the newly commissioned Security Outpost, Mr. Ademola Adeyemi, General Manager of Community Affairs and Special Duties at Dangote Cement, noted that the donation is part of the company’s broader contributions to peace, security, and development in Kogi State. He also revealed plans for additional projects aimed at supporting local communities.
Several dignitaries attended the event, including the Deputy Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Comfort Uchola Egwaba, Hon. Bode Ogunmola, Hon. Maikudi Idris, Hon. Anthony Ujah, Hon. Olawumi Jacob, and the Chairman of the Kogi State House of Assembly Service Commission, Alhaji Sule Ahmed.
